Meeting with the Opposition Political Party

The President and Vice President of the Malta Chamber of Construction Management, Jesmond Chetcuti MCIOB and Karl Azzopardi FCIOB, last week met with the Leader of the Opposition Party, Hon Dr Bernard Grech, the Shadow minister for construction, Hon Dr Hermann Schiavone and Ing. Rebekah Cilia.
The MCCM requested this meeting in order for its representatives, to brief the Opposition Party on the proposed legal act which will give the profession of Construction Project Manager its recognition and to provide a brief background to how the idea to form this Chamber was born and how the Minister, Dr Ian Borg and Mrs Caroline Gumble, COE of the Chartered Institute of Building, a leading international Construction Institute, were the first supporters of this initiative.

The MCCM representatives took the opportunity to explain the chamber`s vision, goals and how the Chamber will be contributing to the improvement of the Construction Industry in Malta. The importance of Education was also mentioned and how the Chamber had already started working closely with the University of Malta, MCAST and a private academy to make sure that there are sufficient courses, at every level, to accommodate the demand for the new national strategy for the Construction Industry will require.

The meeting was concluded by the Leader of the Opposition, promising his and the Opposition support for this initiative and that further meetings will follow.
